Matt Dangelantonio
Matt Dangelantonio is the senior producer of AirTalk with Larry Mantle and FilmWeek. He started at LAist in 2014 (back when it was still KPCC) as an associate producer on AirTalk.
Before coming to LAist, Matt was a producer, reporter, and host with Cox Media Group in Jacksonville, Florida, where he covered daily top stories, severe weather, and breaking news for News 104.5 WOKV-FM on radio and Action News Jax on television. He and his work have been featured on NPR, BBC, AP Radio News, Fox News Radio, the NFL Network on Sirius XM and HLN as well as local radio and TV affiliates across the country.
Matt graduated in 2011 from Syracuse University, where he studied broadcast and digital journalism and Spanish. It was there that he fell in love with radio — first as an on-air music DJ and eventually as VP of Programming at student-run WJPZ-FM 89.1, a.k.a. "Z89." He was also a part-time general assignment reporter for WSYR AM/FM radio, covering breaking news and local stories in the greater Syracuse area as well as providing analysis, studio hosting, and commentary during pre and postgame shows for Syracuse men’s basketball and football.
Matt grew up in New Hampshire and will always be a New Englander at heart, but he's grown to love his new home in Southern California. In his spare time, you might find him chasing down a good al pastor taco or the best locally-brewed suds, in the outfield bleachers at a baseball game (scoring it on paper, of course), or exploring the West Coast and the world with his wife, son, and their two Shepherd dogs — Hazel the German and Duncan the Australian.
