LAist Donor Privacy Policy

The following Membership and Donor List Policy governs SCPR’s use of all its stations' member and donor information.

We regularly contact our members and donors to carry out normal operations, including mailing membership publications, membership renewal notices, special requests for contributions, and information regarding member benefits. We also communicate with members by phone or email to communicate with them regarding such matters as membership renewal and programming of special interest to their needs.

We do not sell our membership list to other organizations, but we do periodically rent and/or exchange the names and addresses of our members and donors with other organizations. We carefully screen any organization with which we partner. There may be circumstances under which we may be required by law or by judicial process to make membership list information available to others. It is our policy to oppose delivery of the membership and donor list, in whole or in part, to the fullest extent allowable by law.

We will not sell, rent, transfer, provide or exchange its membership list with any political party, political committee, candidate for political office, or political lobbying organization.

All membership and donor communications are conducted directly by SCPR or through an affiliated third party, such as a direct marketing firm, acting on behalf of SCPR.

Members and donors have the right not to have their names and addresses provided to other organizations, and may indicate this preference in making membership commitments by mail, phone or internet. Members and donors may also change their preference at any time by contacting Member Services Department by phone at 626-583-5121 or by email at membership@kpcc.org to request this "no rental or exchange" designation.

Complying with Accepted Standards:
In its fund-raising practices, SCPR complies with the laws and regulations of the Internal Revenue Service, the Communications Act, the policies of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, the laws of the State of California, and the regulations of the United States Postal Service.
