I’m a longtime resident of Altadena and Pasadena, so you know I love these mountain views. My parents are Mexican immigrants, and I grew up speaking Spanish and English in my house.
I first realized telling Latinx stories is what I wanted to do when I was at Pasadena City College. Since then, I’ve done longform journalism and podcasts, data reporting, investigative journalism, and community engagement. I’m proud of my work on the After Ayotzinapa podcast series, among other projects, during my time at The Center for Investigative Reporting.
Now I’m back at LAist — my third time joining this newsroom — in this new role that brings many of my interests together. I’ll be: facilitating engagement directly with stakeholders, working on distribution and collaboration with civic information hubs (e.g. libraries, museums, and school districts) and supporting relationships with community, ethnic, and in-language media.
