I know it feels like the Halloween season starts earlier and earlier every year, but I think in writing this column, we now have actual proof. Love it or hate it, the spooky season officially launches the minute the first pumpkin spice latte hits. This week, the first of those bigger, scarier, and extra creative Halloween events begin in L.A.

You can kick off your costume brainstorming by seeing 1922’s silent film Nosferatu with a backdrop of Radiohead albums or really get into character at the Delusion immersive theater experience. If you’re not quite ready for all that (I’m still in summer mode, for sure!), there’s also a new collab between artists and JPL scientists open at the Brand Library, an avant-garde performance from Norwegian musician Bendik Giske, and a collection of Broadway divas on stage at the Wallis.

For more to explore, visit LAist.com where you can snag a last-minute ticket to see New Yorker extraordinaire Fran Lebowitz with Fresh Air’s Tonya Mosley, seek out the area’s best Negroni, and get the skinny on why so many music festivals have been canceled this year.

Don’t throw away your shot to see the everything-winning 2016 musical again — or for the first time! It is still as dynamic as ever, and the filmed version isn’t a substitute for seeing it live. Try your hand at the “Ham4Ham” lottery to score rush tickets via the Hamilton app.

Spooky season is nearly upon us, and whether you love it or hate it, the haunted house adventures in this creative city of ours get increasingly over the top every year. Enter Delusion: The Red Castle, an interactive play where you portray a patient found sleepwalking on the grounds of the creepy Dr. Frederick Lowell’s Red Castle. VIP attendees can perform in a scene in the show and hang out in a private bar.

The Los Angeles Korean Festival has been going for more than 50 years and this year’s four-day-long edition celebrates the rich traditions of Korea while embracing the diversity of Los Angeles through food, local vendors, and all kinds of performances, including – of course – a K-Pop contest.

They can’t stop the beat! Original Hairspray cast members Marissa Jaret Winokur, Kerry Butler, and Laura Bell Bundy hit the stage together in a night of musical tributes. The trio – who haven’t performed together since they were teenagers – will reflect on the 20th anniversary of Hairspray.

Another incredible PST Art show is now open, this time at the Brand Library and Art Center in Glendale as part of a collaboration with NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. The exhibit pairs artists with a team of JPL scientists and engineers to “present a vision of the future that invites the viewer to consider the impact of greater connectedness with nature and its ability to foster a renewed sense of wonder and curiosity with our planet.”

On stage at Dynasty Typewriter, he’ll call upon a few other music lovers, Golden Globe winner Rachel Bloom and TikTok star Broadway Barbara, for his show Songs in the Key of LOLOL. Expect mashups, original songs and a “sound bath.”

I fear this selling out, but have no fear, Silence Synched is an ongoing series. This time in honor of scary movie season being nearly upon us, American Cinematheque is showing 1922’s Nosferatu with a soundtrack of Radiohead’s Kid A and Amnesiac albums. I’m not sure something has ever been more up my alley… I hope some of you feel the same!
