I know it feels like the Halloween season starts earlier and earlier every year, but I think in writing this column, we now have actual proof. Love it or hate it, the spooky season officially launches the minute the first pumpkin spice latte hits. This week, the first of those bigger, scarier, and extra creative Halloween events begin in L.A.
You can kick off your costume brainstorming by seeing 1922’s silent film Nosferatu with a backdrop of Radiohead albums or really get into character at the Delusion immersive theater experience. If you’re not quite ready for all that (I’m still in summer mode, for sure!), there’s also a new collab between artists and JPL scientists open at the Brand Library, an avant-garde performance from Norwegian musician Bendik Giske, and a collection of Broadway divas on stage at the Wallis.
For more to explore, visit LAist.com where you can snag a last-minute ticket to see New Yorker extraordinaire Fran Lebowitz with Fresh Air’s Tonya Mosley, seek out the area’s best Negroni, and get the skinny on why so many music festivals have been canceled this year.
